We had lots of fun at Lego Club! Can't wait for next week Tuesday!

Year 3 have been exploring the text, "This is how we do it" by Matt Lamothe, during  writing lessons. As part of the unit, they produced fact files about themselves. They published their fact files and illustrated eye-catching front covers.

We are delighted to let you know that we have the opportunity to go to an event at Sheffield University (Pennine Theatre) and hear a presentation from the author of one of our favourite books – House with Chicken Legs. This is a great way for students to learn more about the book and gain further excitement for reading.  

The event will take place on Monday 29th April 2024 for all Y4 pupils

The cost of the trip is £2 to cover the bus fares to and from the event, please pay this to the school office.

Children will return to school by midday so lunch and home time will be normal. 

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to speak to your child’s class teacher.

Dear families

As part of our understanding of facilities in our local area we are taking the Y1 children to Darnall Library to have a look at the books and listen to a story.

The visits will take place on the afternoon of:

Tuesday 7th May, 1.30 - 2.30pm – Y1 Aquamarine – Mrs Cox/Mrs Fazlanie's class

Friday 10th May, 1.30 - 2.30 pm – Y1 Emerald - Miss Ibrahim's class

Monday 13th May, 1.30 – 2.30 pm – Y1 Pearl -  Miss Najib's class

If your child has a library card please bring it into school and give it to the class teacher as the children will have the opportunity to borrow some books from the library. Please ensure there are no outstanding payments of unreturned books as the library staff will not allow your child to borrow more books.

Please remember to return books borrowed on our visit back to the library before the stamped date.

For this trip to take place, we will need parent volunteers to attend. If you would like to come, please speak to your child’s class teacher. You would be responsible for a small group of children.

In nursery  and the hub we have been baking. We made biscuits for Eid and took them home to enjoy with out families.

Year 3 loved visiting reading bistro. For their starter course they explored picture books, for their main course they explored chapter books and for desserts they explored some interesting non-fiction books. After their visit the children completed a reading comment card and shared their recommendations. Exploring books and developing an interest is all part of our reading for pleasure mission. On Wednesday 8th May author Paul Grimshaw will be coming to school to read his story "Alvin the cat who couldn't cat " to our Y4 children. If you would like to purchase the book your child/ren Paul will be available after school till 3.40pm in the library to sign your copy - please come along. The book costs £8 and the profits go to the Sheffield Cat Shelter.
