Its the end of the year 😊 Let’s see what’s been happening in Nursery…………………….

We have had a fantastic last term in nursery! We started off the term learning about and celebrating the Queen’s Jubilee. The children made flags, party decorations and their own invitations to the Jubilee celebrations! We had a party, and everyone dressed in red, white and blue and made gold crowns to wear! We ate lots of party food and played games to celebrate the Queen’s Jubilee. Then we started our new theme for the term ‘All creatures great and small’ and started to read the story ‘Dear Zoo’. The children enjoyed learning about zoo animals and made their own ‘zig zag books’ with pictures of their favourite animals in.  The weather has been lovely with the sun shining so the children have loved learning outside drawing with chalk, popping bubbles, climbing the equipment, and making mud pies in the mud kitchen! In maths we have been sorting objects according to different criteria’s, counting- saying one number for each item in order: 1,2,3,4,5, showing the right number of objects to match the numeral, up to 5, using positional language and comparing numbers! The children have excelled in phonics and have learnt so many new sounds with help of Fred the frog! They also completed their homework every day and brought it back to school to show the teachers. This will really help the children who are moving into FS2 next year! Lots of children have also learnt to write their name which we are so proud to see! During this term we had sports day where the children took part in lots of different races. All the children took part which made the teachers very proud! We also had our 'teddy bear's picnic' where the children brought their own teddy bear and we sat and ate a picnic in the sunshine!

We have had an amazing time in nursery this year exploring, playing, and learning with our friends! Good luck to the children who are moving to FS2 in September, and we can’t wait to continue our learning journey with the children staying in nursery, as well as welcoming some new friends! Have a lovely summer holiday and see some of you in September!

Its the end of the year 😊 Let’s see what’s been happening in Nursery…………………….

End of term parties - Thursday 21st July

Dear Parents/Carers,

On Thursday 21st July 2022, we will be having class parties to celebrate Eid, the end of the school year and to say goodbye to Mrs Shah.

We would be very grateful if you could provide party food for your child to share with their class.  Here are some suggestions:

Sandwiches

Savoury snacks

Biscuits

Juice

Crisps

Buns/cakes (cut)

Fruit (chopped)

If your child has any allergies, please ensure their medical records are up to date in the office.

Also, you will be aware that Bangladesh has recently been affected by flooding.  We would like to take this opportunity to raise money to help the people who have been affected.  On the same day (Thursday 21st July 2022) your child is invited to come in non-uniform for £1.  All of this money will be donated to Ummah Welfare Trust: https://uwt.org/emergency-appeals/bangladesh-floods/.  Your child can bring their £1 to their class teacher.

We look forward to an enjoyable last week of term.

Thank you for your continued support,

Mrs Fazlanie and Miss Field

Its week 5 😊 Let’s see what’s been happening in nursery…………………….

This week in nursery we have continued to read the story ‘Brown bear, brown bear, what do you see?’ The children have been chanting the poem from the story remembering what animal comes next! They have enjoyed painting pictures of the different animals and making their own zig zag books that they have drawn in. In maths we have been counting bears to 5 and putting them in caves! We have also continued with our phonics learning and learnt new sounds including sound ‘o’ and ‘c’. We are so pleased to see the children bringing their phonics homework back to school for the teachers to see! Next week we will start reading our new story ‘We’re going on a lion hunt’.

Y2 Bridlington Trip - Thursday 21st July

Dear Parent/Carer

As part of our new topic, ‘Hot and Cold Deserts!’ We are excited to inform you that all the year 2 classes will be going on a school visit to the seaside in Bridlington! We hope to make a memorable day for the children and further their understanding of life at sea and on the coast.

The children will have a full day on the beach making sandcastles, paddling in the sea; picnic lunch and a whole year group sing song! The visit will take place on Thursday, 21st July.

Bridlington is quite a distance from our school so in order to get a full day at the seaside we aim to leave school at 8.30am, so please arrive at school at 8am. We expect to return to school by 4pm. If there are any delays, the office team will contact you by 3.30pm. Please make sure your contact details are correct at the main office.

The cost of the trip is £12 per child. This covers the cost of the coach and an ice cream at the seaside. Please visit the Arbor app/portal to give consent and pay.  Without your contribution it may be necessary to cancel the visit.  We understand that some families may need to pay in instalments to help spread the cost, if so, please speak to your child’s class teacher.

What your child needs to bring

We advise children bring a backpack containing a change of clothes, a sun hat, and a bottle of water with their name on. Children must wear sensible shoes, a raincoat and must apply sun cream (depending on the weather) before they leave home. Please ensure that all clothing is labelled with their name. All children will be provided with a packed lunch from school.

If you have any questions, please either call the school office or speak to your child’s class teacher

Thank you for your continued support

Yours sincerely

Year 2 team.
