As World Book Day draws closer, we have started to plan an accessory to wear on Thursday. Drawing on our favourite stories for inspiration, we have written the materials required and how we will reinforce it. Stay tuned for more Updates!

It’s been an action-packed start to Spring 2 in Year 5! We were excited to have Makers Futures over to let our students get their hands into a vast amount of STEM activities. Combining science, technology, engineering and maths, students controlled robots, did DIY, created circuits, made monsters and much, much more

To celebrate 25 years of World Book Day we are planning a week of fun.

The focus of the week is to develop reading for pleasure.

The theme this year is "Twisted Fairy Tales".  Each day there will be a fun activity for children to enjoy.  As well as launching a class reading journal, which will be an ongoing project.

We will be holding our video appointment parents evening on Tuesday 15th March and Wednesday 16th March via school cloud.  School Cloud allows you to choose your own appointment times with your childs class teacher and you will receive an email confirming your appointments.

The system will open for parents to make appointments from Friday 25th February at 4pm - Wednesday 9th March 4pm.

Nursery - Y6  will hold virtual parent evening meetings on Tuesday 15th & Wednesday 16th March 3.30 - 6pm

Dear Parents/Carers

School will be selling fruit cups to raise money for the Wildlife Trust.

Fruit cups will be availble to all junior school children on Thursday 3rd March and all infant school children on Friday 4th March, the cost is £1 per cup.

If your child would like to but one it will need to be preordered with the class teacher before Wednesday 2nd March.

On the 22.2.22 Y1, Y4 and Y5 will be having an exciting visit from the Maker {Move} Van as part of the Maker Futures Project. The children will each participate in a workshop where they will design and make objects and engage in STEM (science, technology, engineering, and maths) challenges. The focus is on making without a specific goal in mind. The children will get the opportunity to create, tinker, test and modify which will develop the skills they need to solve complex problems. We can't wait! 

Year 5 enjoyed taking snippets of their text and putting the emoticon behind it into a freeze frame. This helped students to infer the meaning or emotion within the book, even if it doesn’t state it clearly. Keep up the hard work, Y5!

High Hazels Academy PTA made an amazing gesture in December and sponsored a snowflake at Sheffield Children’s Hospital.

Over the past seven years, the award-winning snowflake display has raised over £1m for Sheffield Children’s Hospital!

In return for pledging to raise funds, the PTA sees their snowflake sparkle on the Sheffield Children’s Hospital building, with an attached name tag recognising the contribution for all to see.

The initiative brings people together with a shared goal to build a better future for the staff, patients, and their families at Sheffield Children’s Hospital.

Our PTA will be selling hot chocolate cones priced at £1 per cone on Monday 24th January for junior children, and Tuesday 25th January for infant children.

Children are able to bring £1 into school and will have an opportunity to buy a cone throughout the day.

All monies rasied will be donated to Sheffield Children's Hopsital, sponsor a star appeal.
