This week, Y4 have loved getting started on our textiles unit. We learnt the basics like threading a needle, tying a knot in our thread and doing a running stitch. We had to be really determined as it was tricky at first. We are thrilled with our first attempts and can't wait to learn some decorative techniques next week.

We will be having Christmas lunch in school on Wednesday 15th  December. The menu will be:-

 Roast Turkey served with , Sage and Onion Stuffing , Cranberry Sauce and Gravy or

Quorn Roast Joint,

Roast Potatoes, Glazed Carrots & Garden Pea Medley,

I am writing to inform you that we have had to make changes in our swimming arrangements for Year 4.

As such, Year 4 swimming sessions will cease as of next week and their remaining 8 sessions will be reinstated in the summer term.

High Hazels Academy

Dear Parents/Carers,

On Friday 19^th November it is Children in Need Day.

Children will be able to come to school wearing spots. This could be a spotty jumper, socks, or t-shirt. Some children have even made a spotty t-shirt before.

If children want to take part in Children in Need Day, please can children bring £1 into school on 19^th November.

All money that the school raises will then be sent to Children in Need charity.

The streets of Darnall were alive with music, dance and light taken when High Hazels Academy staged the return of their annual lantern parade last week.

Held on Friday 5^th November, the colourful event was also supported by Sheffield Park Academy, and provided the perfect opportunity for the youngsters to showcase their handiwork, parading their wonderful lanterns down Staniforth Road and up the main road.

Music for the event came care of Darnall Community Gospel Choir, and High Hazels youngest also sang, whilst the moves were provided by Sheffield Park's students with a contemporary dance routine.  The crowds were also entertained by stilt walkers and fire throwers from Innovation Entertainments, which ended the parade in style.

Commenting on the parade, High Hazels Academy’s Principal Mrs Asma Maqsood-Shah said:

“It’s a fantastic event and one which helps to bring the whole community together. The children also love having the opportunity to show off the wonderful lanterns they have made.”

Please remember that afterschool clubs are cancelled on Tuesday 9th November and Wednesday 10th November due to online parents evening taking place.

• Neither the school or United Learning will be able to identify you or your child from your response, unless you write something in one of the free text boxes that identifies you or your child by name
• If you have more than on child at the school, complete the survey with your eldest child in mind. You are welcome to complete the survey for each child if you would like to.
• It is possible for more than one parent/carer wishes to complete the survey for a child.
• If you have any problems completing the survey or need any help, please contact us.
• The survey relates to parents/carers of pupils from Reception up to and including Year 6 only as the questions are not appropriate for nursery age children.
•  The deadline for completion is Friday 3^rd December.

Dear Parent/ Carer,                                       

As part of our commitment to offer “education with character” you child will have the opportunity to watch a performance of ‘Sleeping Beauty’ on Thursday 11^th November 2021 in school. Y1 & Y2 children will watch the performance at 9am, and Y3 & Y4 children will watch at 10.15am.

This will be an opportunity for your child to gain new skills and experiences.

To allow us to offer this we ask that you provide £2.50 to cover the expense of the performance before Wednesday 10^th November via Arbor.
