Y4 Root Word

Today in reading, we looked at words that we may not know fully and investigated the root of the word. From this, we saw that we did actually have an understanding! This activity helped us gain a greater depth of comprehension towards our new text on the Early Islamic Civilisation.

The children enjoyed taking part in an experiment for British Science Week. They filled cups of water and put penguins inside the cup and placed them in the freezer. They noticed the water turned into ice and found different ways of melting it to free the penguins.

To start British Science Week, we had a visit from Makers Van. Students had the chance to choose and engage in a selection of science-based tasks. We had robot coding, Lego, circuit building, airplane creating and even creating dens and parachutes! Thank you for visiting us Makers Van!

🧪🌡 Y3 British Science Week 🌡🧪

For British science week, Y3 attended the Maker Move Van in the junior hall. We participated in a series of workshops, allowing us to create, test and develop our science skills. This included operating robots, designing our own carboard cutouts, stitching, using circuits, building moving monsters and using playdough to make digital aminations.

In our English lesson in Y3 we are studying the book "Aesops Fables" , Today we explored the fable, "The Wolf in Sheeps Clothing". We explored the main dilemma in the text using a conscience alley, should the wolf kill the sheep?
