One of the most important things that parents can do for their child’s education is to bring them into school on time, every single day. This is why, this year we are renewing our challenge to all our families to make sure that no child gets left behind and no learning is interrupted by attendance and punctuality concerns.
Regular school attendance is the single most important factor in educational success. Good attendance is essential for children’s progress and achievement. Every second of learning counts- especially for the youngest children!
Why is punctuality so important? Well, studies show that being punctual at school not only helps children with their academic work - it improves their self-esteem and confidence too. Children are better placed to make good friendships in class when they are on time every day.
Good punctuality is also respectful. It demonstrates respect for school rules, teachers and other children. Children who are continually late are missing an important part of the day. Late arrivals are hugely disruptive to the whole class and often embarrassing for your child. Arrival after the closure of registration is an unauthorised absence in accordance with the government guidance. If your child is regularly late, even by as little as 3 minutes each day, this can add up to more than a days loss of education per month. 15 minutes late every day, over a school year, is equivalent to 10 days absence.
We are building good habits for life and regular, punctual attendance builds both character and a positive work ethic for the future.
We can only achieve our school attendance and punctuality targets with your continued support. Our excellent attendance team will contact you if there are any concerns –they are also there to support.
