Year 2 Blog

Another wonderful week in FS2!

This week we’ve been busy little learners:

🔤 In Phonics, we practiced listening carefully to sounds and blending them together.

🔢 In Maths, the children explored repeating patterns, spotting and creating their own using Autumn treasure.

✍️ In Literacy, we had fun making building sentences on our shape coding boards to help us understand how sentences are built.

🍂 The children loved doing leaf rubbings, noticing the beautiful textures and patterns nature gives us.

Well done FS2 – such curious minds and enthusiastic learners! 🌟

Loving Owl Babies

This week in nursery, we are enjoying the delightful story of Owl Babies! 🦉🌿📖 Sharing stories helps children build imagination, vocabulary, and a love of reading. Happy reading!

Mental Health Fun Run

We are excited to announce that our junior children will be taking part in a fun run to celebrate World Mental Health Day! This is a wonderful opportunity for the children to get active and have fun while supporting an important cause.

To ensure everyone is comfortable, please can the children come to school in trainers or bring a pair with them. Your support in this event is greatly appreciated!

Wellington Boots

👢👢Wellington Boots 👢👢

Dear Parents and Carers,

We’re excited to let you know that children can now bring in their own wellington boots (wellies) to school! This means your child will be able to enjoy outdoor play and learning on the field throughout the year, whatever the weather.

To help us keep things organised, please ensure that your child’s wellies are clearly labelled on the inside with their name and class using a permanent marker.

Thank you for your support in helping us make the most of our outdoor space!

Fictional Narrative

Students in Year 6 have been designing their settings for their fictional narrative. Working in groups, they annotated various settings and generated details descriptions including verbs, nouns and adjectives. The classes then collated some ideas and added them to their 'pick n' mix' wall which will support them through the remainder of the unit. What a lovely start to the week, Y6!

We aim to leave school at 9:30am, so please bring your child to school at normal school time. We aim to be back in school for 3:15pm. If there are any delays, the school’s office team will contact you by 3:00pm. To ensure you can receive any updates on delays, please check your contact details are correct at the school’s main office.

We are asking for £10.00 per child which covers the cost of the coach, full access to the Science Centre and a workshop.  Please return payment in full via the Arbor app.

For this trip, children must wear full school uniform. You will need to provide your child with a packed lunch.  If your child is eligible for free school meals, a packed lunch will be provided for them.

If you have any questions about this trip, please talk to your child’s class teacher.

Thank you for your continued support.

🛥🛥Long Boat Creations 🛥🛥

Students in Y6 have been learning all about the Anglo Saxons in History and had a session on identifying key parts of their longboats. They then spent some time sketching them and we could not be more impressed with their pieces!

Owl Babies

After reading owl babies in nursery, we talked about the three baby owls from the story — Sarah, Percy, and Bill — and then had a go at ordering different owls by size. The children did a wonderful job using words like “biggest,” “smaller,” and “tiny!” 🪶
