HIGH HAZELS LANTERN PARADE LIGHTS UP DARNALL
The streets of Darnall were alive with music, dance and light taken when High Hazels Academy staged the return of their annual lantern parade last week.
Held on Friday 5th November, the colourful event was also supported by Sheffield Park Academy, and provided the perfect opportunity for the youngsters to showcase their handiwork, parading their wonderful lanterns down Staniforth Road and up the main road.
Music for the event came care of Darnall Community Gospel Choir, and High Hazels youngest also sang, whilst the moves were provided by Sheffield Park's students with a contemporary dance routine. The crowds were also entertained by stilt walkers and fire throwers from Innovation Entertainments, which ended the parade in style.
Commenting on the parade, High Hazels Academy’s Principal Mrs Asma Maqsood-Shah said:
“It’s a fantastic event and one which helps to bring the whole community together. The children also love having the opportunity to show off the wonderful lanterns they have made.”
