Nursery Blog

Its week 5 😊 Let’s see what’s been happening in nursery…………………….

This week in nursery we have been reading our new story ‘The Little Red Hen’. The children have learnt a lesson from the story about helping others and being kind to each other. They have been painting pictures of the little red hen in the creative area and drawing pictures of other characters from the story in the writing area. Now that we have come into spring we have been talking about signs of Spring and spotting these signs outside. We have talked about caring for living things and looking after the natural environment. The children have been watering the flowers everyday to help them grow. It has been a busy week of playing and exploring in the indoor and outdoor environment!  Next week will be our final week learning about farm animals before the Easter holidays

Leadership At High Hazels Academy

Dear Parents/Carers

Leadership at High Hazels Academy

We hope that everyone is enjoying the new term. Despite the ongoing challenges of Covid19, we are pleased that pupils are continuing at pace with their learning. After seven years as Headteacher of High Hazels Academy, Mrs Maqsood-Shah will be leaving the school at the end of the academic year. She has been appointed as Regional Director within a Primary Trust. This is not a decision she has taken lightly, and we will be very sorry to see her leave. She has been an excellent Headteacher for the school and, has been very successful in managing the challenges of Covid-19. Her dedication to the school and its community has been superb. I know that everyone in the school will wish her well for the future and thank her for the contribution she has made to the school’s success. She is, of course, fully committed to the school until the summer and is looking forward to a productive six months.

We will now begin a national recruitment exercise to appoint her successor. We hope to attract a strong field of candidates and to have our new Head in place for September. We will, of course, ensure a smooth transition between Mrs Maqsood-Shah and her successor so that there is no disruption to the strong progress underway at the school. Thank you for your continued support of the school during this very important time for catching up on any lost learning due to the Pandemic.

Best wishes

Its week 4 😊 Let’s see what’s been happening in nursery…………………….

This week in nursery we have spent a long time outside exploring the outdoor area. We have been planting some seeds in the large planters and watering all the flowers we have planted. We are so excited to watch them grow! We have also been exploring the water area using the water wall, riding the bikes and playing throwing and catching games with our friends. Inside we have been drawing pictures of animals that live on a farm and decorating these pictures with a range of materials. On Wednesday we celebrated British Science Week, where we talked about what Science is and took part in activities. We particularly enjoyed the paint blowing where we used straws to blow paint across the paper which made lovely marks! We can’t wait for next week where we will start our new story ‘The Little Red Hen’.

The Date Project

The idea and concept was simple, to raise funds for the Al-Huda Bakery in Syria by selling a box of the finest Medjool dates for £10 during Ramadan.

Each box sold raised funds for fifty loaves of bread for a Syrian family. The Date Project is a initiative started and run by volunteers with 100% of profits going to charity.

In the first year of the project, 100,000 loaves of bread were distributed, and in 2016 a phenomenal 3.5 million loaves of bread were produced as a result of this initiative.

For Ramadan 2017, Palestine was added with a beautifully designed box in Palestinian colors being sold as the perfect gift nationwide.

We are supporting The Date Project by selling dates on our school yard next week for £10 per tin. These will be available to buy after school from the PTA members. For more information visit https://thedateproject.org

Science Dress Up Day 16th March

Dear parents and carers,

Next week we will be celebrating British Science Week. On Wednesday 16th March, we have planned a fun filled day so children can engage in a number of activities that build skills such as problem solving, critical thinking and enquiry. Please follow the Sway page if you would like some ideas on how to continue this learning at home. As part of the excitement, we are asking all children to dress up on Wednesday as something related to science. Again, please continue scrolling for costume ideas you can easily create at home.

If you have any questions, please ask your child’s teacher.

Please click here to view all the information about science week

Many thanks,

Its week 3 😊 Let’s see what’s been happening in nursery…………………….

This week in nursery we have been reading our new story 'Wake up farm!' We have been using a variety of materials to make different animals that live on a farm. In maths we have been singing number songs using the props. This has helped us practice counting to 5 and taking numbers away.  The sun has been shining this week so we have enjoyed exploring in our outdoor area going on a mini beast hunt, completing the obstacle course and role playing with the small world animals. We can't wait for next week where we will celebrate British Science week!

Comic Relief 18th March

Dear Parents/Carers,

On Friday 18th March we are taking part in Red Nose Day for the charity Comic Relief.

Children will be able to come to school wearing a Superhero themed costume. This could be one bought in the shops, or made at home. A Superhero could be one seen in a film e.g. Batman but a Superhero could also be a local hero e.g. a nurse, doctor or firefighter.

If children want to take part in Red Nose Day and dress up, they will need to donate £1.

Red Noses will be going on sale starting from Monday 14th March.  Each Red Nose costs £1.50 and the children will be able to buy them from their classroom.

The PTA are also selling sweet cones.  Children will need to pre-order and pay £1 to their class teacher before Friday 11th March.

All money raised will go to Comic Relief.

Many thanks for your continued support
