Y6 Crucial Crew Trip

Dear Parent(s),

As part of this term’s work on personal safety, all the Y6 children will be taking part in “Crucial Crew”.

This is an interactive scheme for young people to learn about, and react to, a variety of real life-type situations: home fire safety, arson, bus safety, road safety, mock court trial, internet safety, peer pressure and safety in the wider community.

It is run by South Yorkshire Police and other professional agencies. Our staff will be, of course, accompanying the children at all times.

It takes place at ‘The Lifewise Centre’, Rotherham.  &a

Y6 Activity Day - 8th June

Dear Parents/Carers,

Due to the current restrictions, we will be unable to take the Year 6 pupils on a residential this year.  However, we are delighted to let you know that your child has the opportunity to participate in an Adventure Day with all Y6 pupils.

This is sure to be a wonderful day for all and is a fantastic opportunity for your child to learn new skills, challenge themselves and have fun with their friends as they near the end of their journey at High Hazels.

Our Adventure Day will take place on Tuesday 8th June 2021.

In their class bubbles, children will take part in a range of different activities:

  • Archery
  • Climbing
  • Nightline
  • Survival
  • Laser tag
  • Team challenges

This event will take place on our school field and each activity will be run by qualified instructors (from One Adventure) and class teachers will be there to support throughout the day.

Your child will need to wear their PE kit on this day, but the school day will start and finish at the normal time.

The cost of this exciting day is £15 per child.  Please can this be paid via your Parent Mail account.

If you have any questions at all, please do not hesitate to contact your child’s class teacher.

Thank you for your continued support,

Year 6 Team

Its Week 1 - Lets see what's been happening in Y6..............

We have kicked off our Battle for Equality theme with a bang this week! On Monday morning, we gave the children different treatment and experiences based on their age. The 10 year olds had a wonderful morning full of musical instruments, art and fun exercise videos whereas the 11 year olds were forced to write lines, stretch and tap on the tables instead of using the glockenspiels. They were outraged by this inequality and created their own placards for protest.

St George's Day - Friday 23rd April

Dear Parents/Carers

As part of our citizenship curriculum, we would like to mark the upcoming occasions of the Queen’s birthday and St George’s day on Friday 23rd April. Children can come to school on the day wearing their full school uniform as well as something extra which is red, white or blue. For example, a hair band, badge, socks in any of those colours.

Please note that we do not expect you to purchase anything specific for this event.

Many thanks for your continued support.
