Its Week 4 - Lets see what's been happening in Reception..............

We have had an exciting week in FS2 with the arrival of our caterpillars, we have learnt all about the life cycle of a butterfly and discussed the parts of a caterpillar. We learnt some interesting facts about caterpillars and butterflies. Did you know caterpillars have 16 legs? We have been getting creative designing butterflies by exploring symmetry and making our own life cycle zig zag books.  We can’t wait to see them cocoon and emerge as beautiful butterflies. In maths we have been learning to hold a number in our head and count on in order to solve a simple addition equation. We continued our Eid preparations by making cards, creating Medhi patterns and talking about our Eid celebrations. It sounds like the children have had a good time, with their families and friends. We hope all our families have enjoyed their Eid celebrations.

Its Week 2 - Lets see what's been happening in Reception..............

This week in Literacy we have been learning all about growing. We planted cress seeds and we have been keeping a diary to monitor the changes. We learned what plants need to grow, we labelled parts of a plant and studied a plant’s lifecycle. In maths we have been learning about numbers beyond 10 and we have practised counting to 20 in lots of different ways (jumping, clapping and in silly voices). We have been painting pictures of scenes from ‘The Three Billy Goats Gruff’ and building bridges for the goats to cross. This week we hosted our first ‘Finger Gym’ afterschool club, we had a great time and made some excellent collages, we can’t wait for our next ‘Finger Gym’ session. We are looking forward to learning all about Eid and starting our new story ‘The Enormous Turnip’ next week.

Dear Parents/Carers

I would like to wish Eid Mubarak to all our families who will be celebrating Eid-ul-Fitr.

As a whole school, we will be having Eid parties on Monday 17th May.  As we are still working  within the pandemic restrictions, we are asking parents/carers for a £1 contribution per child via ParentMail.  The money will be used to purchase party food and drink for all the children.

Please note that the 17th May will also be a non - uniform day for all the children.

As always, if your child has any allergies then please ensure their medical records are up to date in the office.

Its Week 1 - Lets see what's been happening in Reception..............

We came back from the Easter holidays full of enthusiasm for our learning!  We started the week by getting active in maths using our adding machines to work out number sentences. In literacy we started a new story ‘The Three Billy Goats Gruff’ and we have had lots of fun drawing story maps and acting out the story. We have enjoyed the lovely sunshine and spent lots of time playing and learning outdoors. We are so excited for next week when we will be learning all about growing!
