We have finished Spring 2 Term - Lets see what's been happening in Nursery..............

In Nursery we have been so excited to be back at school with all our friends! We have been so busy this half term!

We have been learning all about different concepts such as in, out and on and talking about these in provision with adults and our friends. We have been doing lots of small group work to practise our listening and attention skills, singing songs and making some silly soup!  We also been learning all about Spring and Easter. We have been on a 'signs of spring' on spring eye spy hunt, painted some daffodils after looking at them very carefully and made some Easter nests!  Some of us have enjoyed exploring different textures in the water tray and using new words to describe what we can feel! What a fantastic end to the Spring Term back in Nursery!

Virtual Parents Evening 30th & 31st March

Dear Parents

Due to the current Covid-19 pandemic we have been unable to hold face to face parents evening meetings.  We have missed meeting parents, and we want to ensure that until we can meet parents face to face we have a virtual system to discuss pupils progress.

Therefore the school has introduced a new intuitive and easy to use online appointment booking system called school cloud. This allows you to choose your own appointment times with teachers and you will receive an email confirming your appointments.

School cloud allows parents to have a video consultation with their childs class teacher, and we are confident that parents will find this system simple and easy to use and we welcome any feedback.

We will hold our virtual parent evening meetings on Tuesday 30th March and Wednesday 31st March.  Parents will be sent a letter detailing all the information needed to make appointments, along with parents unique login code.  Nursery parents will be able to speak to Mrs Adlington on Wednesday 31st March

Please click here to access High Hazels Academy School Cloud Account

If you have any questions or queries please contact the main school office on 0114 2442189 or email enquiries@highhazelsacademy.org.uk.

Many thanks for your continued support

Its Week 4 - Lets see what's been happening in Nursery..............

In nursery this week we have been learning all about Spring! We have been using a variety of media to make blossom trees, planting flowers and describing textures whilst exploring the gloop in the water tray. We have also been singing a variety of nursery rhymes at group time and learning all about the concept ‘out’. Some of us have been practising our scissor skills by cutting spring patterns at the cutting table. What a busy week it has been!

Its Week 3 - Lets see what's been happening in Nursery..............

In nursery we have been exploring using our 5 senses. We have been feeling different textures and describing them, using our eyes to play games of eye spy and smelling different herbs. We have also enjoyed dancing to the new songs that we learnt during our online learning -  it was so much fun to dance all together again! We have also been thinking about the story 'Brown Bear' and have been using a variety of materials to make animals from the story. We are all so happy to be back with all of our friends!

Information Guide for Nursery Children and Parents - Returning to School 8th March

Important Information Returning to School - Monday 8th March

Dear Parents/Carers

I am writing to inform you about some key arrangements for our school opening on 8th March 2021. You will be already aware of the government's announcement, that all pupils will be expected to attend school from next Monday 8th March. This, I am sure, is very positive news for our whole school community. Attendance will be required at school and will be monitored as it has been in the past. Unauthorised absence will be treated as such and followed up accordingly.

The most up to date Government guidance means several important changes to how the school runs. Most changes remain as per our wider opening of schools in September.  In particular:

● When pupils are in school, they will remain within their class group bubble. We will be avoiding any non-essential mixing of year groups;

● Arrivals, break times, lunchtimes and end of school will be staggered to minimise the interaction between year groups. Late children will be asked to wait at the main gate on Fisher Lane and a member of staff will come to assist when all year groups are in the building;

● Year groups will be separated within the school wherever possible so that pupils have access to a minimal number of classrooms and use of communal areas is strictly controlled;

● All areas of the school will receive more frequent cleaning and there will be hand sanitiser available throughout the school. We will continue to encourage children to wash their hands regularly and promote ‘catch it, bin it, kill it’ for any sneezes or coughs;

● Sport and Physical Education will predominantly take place outdoors and contact sports will not be played; pupils will be expected to come to school in their P.E kit on the days they are scheduled to have P.E.  Listed below are allocated PE days for each year group

FS2 Garnet - Thursday                                                    Y5 Ametrine – Monday & Tuesday

FS2 Opal – Wednesday                                                 Y5 Alexandrite – Tuesday & Thursday

FS2 Topaz – Wednesday                                                Y5 Quartz – Tuesday & Thursday

Y1 – Wednesday
