Change of Inset Day - 9th December - 4th January 2021

Dear Parents/Carers

I am writing to inform you that we are having to change one of our INSET days, Wednesday 9th December to Monday 4th January 2021.

I have had to make this change to accommodate the changes of the training provider. Therefore, I am notifying you of the upcoming change in advance so that you can make family arrangements accordingly.

This means that school will be open as usual on Wednesday 9th December for all pupils.

Please accept my apologies for any inconvenience that this may cause.

Thank you for your continued support.

10 Day Active Challenge Starting 12th October

Dear Parent / Carer,

Our school will be taking part in the 10 day Active Travel Challenge starting on Monday 12th and finishing on Friday 23rd October 2020.

The challenge is for pupils & their families to choose an active way of getting to school over the 10 day period. The challenge is also open to school staff and we will be making every effort to take part too.

Walking, cycling, skating, scooting and park & stride are all active ways of travelling and we hope by taking part in the challenge it will:

  • Improve health & wellbeing of our pupils & their families
  • Encourage pupils and families to be more active
  • Reduce congestion and parking problems around our school
  • Improve air quality around school

Please be aware if you live a long way from school and need to drive you can still take part by parking away from school (at least a 5 minute walk) and walking the last part of your journey, this is called Park & Stride.

We are competing against schools from across South Yorkshire so we really do need your help. Please do your best to be active on your journey to school and help us complete the challenge.

Its Week 6 - Lets see what's been happening in Reception..............

This week reception children have enjoyed exploring our new technology station! They have been role playing shop keepers, doctors, receptionists and weather reporters. In Math we have been using the language of 'more' and 'fewer' to compare two groups of objects. We have also continued our learning on autumn by collecting leaves and drawing and labelling autumn pictures.

Its Week 5 - Lets see what's been happening in Reception..............

This week in reception the children have been learning about autumn. We have painted autumnal pictures, explored autumn objects like conkers and acorns and have talked about the changes that occur during the season of autumn. In our math, we have been sorting and matching different objects by their colour, pattern, shape and size.

Its Week 4 - Lets see what's been happening in Reception..............

This week in reception the children have continued to explore the indoor and outdoor environment. They have particularly enjoyed looking at our 15 favourite stories and retelling them to their friends. Outside, the children have been developing their knowledge and understanding of the world digging in the planters, roleplaying in the small world area and making mud pies in the mud kitchen!

Mrs Shah's Weekly Message W/C 21st September

Dear Parents/carers

As we start week 4 of this term, I am filled with joy and pride at how well the whole school community is working together to ensure we continue to provide the best education for our pupils.

We have had outdoor handwashing facilities fitted this week in our Junior school yard and will be having some fitted in the Infants school yard next week. This will no doubt help us to continue embedding the good and safe practice of regular handwashing.

This week we will also start trialling serving hot dinners for all pupils in the junior school.  An updated menu link has been sent out to all parents.

Over the next two weeks all our pupils will be sitting baseline tests for English and Maths. This will help us ascertain individual pupil gaps and support the teaching staff in planning for catch-up and keep up. As always, we will be sharing with valuable information about your child’s progress so far before the end of this half term and will include key areas of focus/targets for your child. This will guide you as parents/carers on how you support your child with their learning.

Thank you for your continued support.
