You may wish to provide your child with an additional bottle of water with their name written on it but they won’t need any other food, drinks or spending money.  In the event of wet weather, we are asking that all children bring a warm, weather-proof coat with their name written in it.  If you have any other questions or queries about the trip please talk to your child’s class teacher.

Top Tips For Teeth

Dental decay in children can lead to pain, infections and difficulty with eating, sleeping and socialising. It is the most common reason children aged 5-9 are admitted to hospital.  Here are some ways to keep your child’s teeth healthy

  •  Children need help brushing their teeth until they are at least 7 years old to make sure they are brushing properly.  Helping them will introduce them to good dental habits that will last a lifetime
  • Brush teeth twice a day, once before bed and once at any other time that suits your routine.
  • Use fluoride toothpaste. Toothpaste that contains 1350-1500ppm fluoride gives teeth the best protection
  • Spit don’t rinse. Brushing teeth with toothpaste provides a protective layer of fluoride. If you rinse your mouth with water after brushing you wash it away. Spitting after brushing is fine.
  • Be Sugar Smart . Many children and adults are eating too much sugar. Visit the change 4 life website for suggestions on how to reduce sugar . www.nhs/change4life
  • Swap sugary drinks. Try sugar free, diet or no added sugar drinks BUT plain water or lower fat milks are best.
  • Register with a dentist. To find an NHS dentist visit www.nhs.uk/service- search
  • Visit your dentist as often as your dentist recommends. Talk to your dentist about fluoride varnish for your child. Remember dental care is free for children
