Coffee Mornings Every Thursday

Its the end of Summer 1 term 😊 Let’s see what’s been happening in Nursery…………………….

We have had a fantastic term in nursery! We have read lots of traditional tales as our theme was ‘Once Upon A time’. We started the term off reading ‘The three little pigs’. The children enjoyed listening to the story and sequencing the events, building houses using bricks, sticks and straw! On the second week back we welcomed new friends into nursery and helped them settle in by showing them all our toys and playing with them.

We enjoyed the beautiful weather and spent lots of time playing and learning in our outdoor area. The children went on mini beast hunts, cooked in the mud kitchen, played ball games and enjoyed riding our brand new bikes and scooters! In phonics we started learning new sounds with the help of Fred the Frog! The children impressed the teachers with how they have remembered all of the sounds! They completed their phonics homework and brought it back to school to show us! This will really help the children that are moving into reception in September! We continued with our traditional tales stories and read the gingerbread man story.  The children used their creative skills to mix paint and paint pictures of the gingerbread man showing different emotions. We even made our own gingerbread men and took them home to eat! It has been a busy, fun filled half term! We can’t wait for next term when we will celebrate the Queens Jubilee and start our new theme ‘All creatures great and small!’.

Its the end of Summer 1 term 😊 Let’s see what’s been happening in Nursery…………………….

Its the end of Summer 1 term 😊 Let’s see what’s been happening in Y6…………………….

Year 6 have had a super half term and have absolutely smashed their SATs papers. They have all worked incredibly hard, showing perseverance, dedication and resilience. Not only this but they have conducted themselves with a positive attitude and maximum effort. We are all extremely proud.

This term has also been extremely busy creating some excellent pieces of writing to showcase their writing skills. They have written twisted fairytales; Little Red Riding wolf and Goldilocks’ revenge are just a few fantastic takes the children had on classic fairy tales. In addition, they have created non-chronological reports on the human body and Dairy entries from the perspective of refugees.

Year 6 took part in a fantastic fun run, where some children ran as far as 5km - great effort! In geography, they have been exploring migration, learning about lots of different case studies and learning new terminology about asylum seekers, voluntary and involuntary migration. In PE, year 6 have been developing their cricket and basketball skills and have participated in inter-class competitions.

They look extremely smart in the full school uniforms, and it is nice to see a positive attitude towards their learning since the disruptions of covid. We are looking forward to the last 6 weeks of year 6 with lots of amazing opportunities for our children. We have prom, residential and the school play coming up to celebrate their success and time at High Hazels.

We wish you all a great, restful half term and look forward to coming back for the last half term.

See you soon,

Year 6 team.

Its the end of Summer 1 term 😊 Let’s see what’s been happening in Y6…………………….
