Odd Sock Day for Anti-Bullying Week - Friday 20th November 2020

Dear Parents/Carers,

This week, (Monday 16th - Friday 20th November 2020) is Anti-bullying Week.  To raise awareness, we will be having an ‘Odd Socks Day’ on Friday 20th November 2020

You do not need to donate any money for this; all that we ask is that your child comes to school in odd socks!

We know that all parents, pupils and staff at High Hazels are united against bullying, and we hope that you will join us in our celebration of individuality and what makes us unique.

Many thanks for your support,

High Hazels Team

Mrs Shah's Weekly Message W/C 9th November

Dear Parents/Carers

Our first week back after half term has started with an announcement from the government of a second countrywide lockdown from Thursday 5th November. The main difference for educational institutions in this second lockdown is that all schools will remain open for all pupils. I, therefore, ask that you continue to send your child/ren to school unless s/he has to isolate or has another illness that prevents them from attending school. At High Hazels Academy, we continue to go above and beyond to ensure that our building remains as safe as possible, that our offer of a high of quality educational provision is maintained and that our pupils' and staff's health and well-being remains at the heart of all that we do. We have maintained high levels of cleaning, employed additional daytime cleaning staff, and implemented a whole range of preventative measures. I am proud to say that our staff and pupils have responded positively to many changes. This has been possible due to your support, for which I am grateful.

However, I would once again want to urge all parents to observe social distancing rules and wear a face mask during drop off and collection times for the safety of all. I am also asking for further cooperation in ensuring that if your child or anyone in your household has any Covid-19 symptoms (high temperature, persistent cough, and/or loss of sense of smell/taste) then please DO NOT send your child to school. This also includes if anyone in your household is awaiting test results. Children must not attend school until a negative result is attained or a period of 14 days of isolation has been completed. Your full support with this means that we can continue to maintain the lowest possible risks of transmission and keep our entire school community safe.

This week has also seen the launch of our annual Parents' Survey. You will have been sent an email from no-reply@edurio.com. The survey is run by an independent survey company and you can be in to win a £25 Amazon voucher. We look forward to hearing your views! Please do complete the survey as it is more important now than ever that we get your feedback and look at how else we as a school can continue to support our families.

This week you will receive a letter from the school about our offer of after school club for all pupils. To clarify, these clubs will be run by teachers within their own class bubbles therefore maintaining health and safety arrangements for all. I would encourage you all to support your child to attend their after-school clubs. The clubs constitute a key part of our Education with Character offer that builds pupils' skills and knowledge beyond academia. This is particularly important as it will help with supporting our pupils p

End of Half Term Newsletter - October 2020

Please click here to view the end of half term newsletter

Dear Parents/Carers

As I write to you on the final day of this half term, I am filled with gratitude and pride for all our staff and pupils. They have worked so hard this term to get back on track with all learning. Our staff have created bespoke catch-up plans to ensure that no child is left behind because of the pandemic. I will be sending you more information after half term about these plans, including our continuity of learning.

All our pupils have settled into school really well and have impressed all of us with their confidence and ability to manage their learning with all the current restrictions. I have already noticed brilliant progress in children’s books. This is a credit to our pupils’ exceptional learning behaviours and determination to do well at school. We look forward to sharing your child/ren’s progress next half term.

I would like to thank all our parents/carers for their continued support, and timely communication that has been invaluable to us in the safe running of the school. Here at High Hazels Academy, we are all looking forward to the start of another amazing term, full of learning achievements, joy and progress.

Have a restful half term break.

Yours sincerely

Mrs A Maqsood-Shah

We have finished Autumn 1 Term - Lets see what's been happening in Reception..............

This half term we have been busy getting used to our new classrooms, meeting our teachers and making new friends! We have learnt about the rules, how to keep safe and look after our classrooms. We also started writing our names every morning, learning phonics and taking reading books home. In maths we have learnt about capacity, mass, sorting, patterns and comparing amounts. We particularly enjoyed using paint and pom poms to make repeated patterns! As the season changed, we learnt all about Autumn and joined in with many autumn themed activities such as leaf rubbing, conker rolling and building habitats for Autumnal animals
