Well done Y1 on a superb Autumn term! You have all shown great determination and confidence and the teachers are very proud of you all.
We have really enjoyed reading a range of books such as ‘Stanley’s Stick’ and ‘The Big Book of the U.K.’ We enjoyed learning about the non fiction text and looking at the different parts of the U.K. in detail.
We have enjoyed being scientists this term and observing the seasonal change and how this impacts the weather. We have had a weather chart in our classrooms and have been recording the weather daily. We also spent time researching the four seasons and identifying what we could see happening and changing within the seasons.
In History we have been learning about our family history. We have been using the vocabulary ‘past’ and ‘present’ and understand what they mean. We have also learnt about how our parents and grandparents were born in the past. We have then used these skills to sort pictures of school and toys into past and present and discuss them.
In D.T. we have learnt all about healthy foods and designed a fruit kebab to promote healthy eating. The children really enjoyed the ‘Taster Day’ where they got to eat lots of different fruits and choose their favourites.
Have a wonderful break. We look forward to welcoming the children back for another term of learning!
