Dear Parents/Carers,

We are writing to inform you of the change of afternoon nursery sessions starting from Monday 22nd March 2021.

The new times will be - 12.30pm 3.30pm

This is to meet the review timetable and feedback from staff, considering health and safety covid restrictions, and to ensure the smooth running of nursery.

We hope that you will drop your child off at 12.30 and collect your child at 3.30 promptly.

Thank you for your continued support and excellent partnership.

Please speak to Mrs Fazlanie if you have any questions by contacting the school office on 0114 2442189.

Its Week 4 - Lets see what's been happening in Y6..............

Year 6 loved taking part in our sponsored run for Comic Relief. All children and staff have competed to run the most laps of the field. We are so proud of everyone in school for rising to the challenge and trying their best. We can’t wait to find out who has won the class

Its Week 4 - Lets see what's been happening in Y3..............

This week in Year 3, we have been continuing our learning about volcanoes in Geography. We have learnt all about the different parts of the Earth and made flashcards to explain and remember each one. In Computing, we have been practising our skills using Microsoft Word and learning to add text, manipulate text and insert pictures. We have used these skills to create some amazing Comic Strips for the story of Charlie and the Chocolate factory!

A big well done to all of Year 3 for completing their assessments this week – you have worked so hard and we are so impressed with your dedication to your learning!

Virtual Parents Evening 30th & 31st March

Dear Parents

Due to the current Covid-19 pandemic we have been unable to hold face to face parents evening meetings.  We have missed meeting parents, and we want to ensure that until we can meet parents face to face we have a virtual system to discuss pupils progress.

Therefore the school has introduced a new intuitive and easy to use online appointment booking system called school cloud. This allows you to choose your own appointment times with teachers and you will receive an email confirming your appointments.

School cloud allows parents to have a video consultation with their childs class teacher, and we are confident that parents will find this system simple and easy to use and we welcome any feedback.

We will hold our virtual parent evening meetings on Tuesday 30th March and Wednesday 31st March.  Parents will be sent a letter detailing all the information needed to make appointments, along with parents unique login code.  Nursery parents will be able to speak to Mrs Adlington on Wednesday 31st March

Please click here to access High Hazels Academy School Cloud Account

If you have any questions or queries please contact the main school office on 0114 2442189 or email enquiries@highhazelsacademy.org.uk.

Many thanks for your continued support

Its Week 4 - Lets see what's been happening in Nursery..............

In nursery this week we have been learning all about Spring! We have been using a variety of media to make blossom trees, planting flowers and describing textures whilst exploring the gloop in the water tray. We have also been singing a variety of nursery rhymes at group time and learning all about the concept ‘out’. Some of us have been practising our scissor skills by cutting spring patterns at the cutting table. What a busy week it has been!

The children have enjoyed settling back into school routine, seeing their friends and teachers. We have been learning all our phonics sounds, looking at numbers to 10 and enjoying focusing on our new topic ‘Once Upon a Time’. We also talked a lot about how our Mum’s help us and made Mother’s Day cards for them. The children also enjoyed exploring the outdoor area learning new skills with the P.E equipment.

We have loved being back at school in year 6! We have particularly enjoyed celebrating British Science Week where we have been able to design and make our own robo-bugs. We have also enjoyed starting our new art unit - painting. We are studying the artist Cezanne and have conducted research into his life and artwork. We cannot wait to start developing our painting skills over the next few weeks.

Its Week 3 - Lets see what's been happening in Y5..............

It has been wonderful to welcome the children back this week and see so much enthusiasm for learning.

This week it was British Science week. The children have had time to research one of the mini beasts we have looked at. They have included what they look like, what they eat, what their habitat is and how they survive in their habitat. Following the research, we have designed our own bugbot.  They have carefully thought about what materials they need to use. Next week, they will be creating these models.
