Its Week 1 - Lets see what's been happening in Nursery..............

This week in nursery we have been learning about bonfire night. We have been talking about what we will see and hear on bonfire night and we have been making firework pictures and rockets using lots of different materials. We really enjoyed watching videos of real fireworks on the interactive whiteboard and listening to the noises that they make!

End of Half Term Newsletter - October 2020

Please click here to view the end of half term newsletter

Dear Parents/Carers

As I write to you on the final day of this half term, I am filled with gratitude and pride for all our staff and pupils. They have worked so hard this term to get back on track with all learning. Our staff have created bespoke catch-up plans to ensure that no child is left behind because of the pandemic. I will be sending you more information after half term about these plans, including our continuity of learning.

All our pupils have settled into school really well and have impressed all of us with their confidence and ability to manage their learning with all the current restrictions. I have already noticed brilliant progress in children’s books. This is a credit to our pupils’ exceptional learning behaviours and determination to do well at school. We look forward to sharing your child/ren’s progress next half term.

I would like to thank all our parents/carers for their continued support, and timely communication that has been invaluable to us in the safe running of the school. Here at High Hazels Academy, we are all looking forward to the start of another amazing term, full of learning achievements, joy and progress.

Have a restful half term break.

Yours sincerely

Mrs A Maqsood-Shah

We have finished Autumn 1 Term - Lets see what's been happening in Nursery..............

What a busy half term we have had in Nursery! We started off by learning all about ourselves and our families. We talked about who lives in our house and had a go at painting our faces by looking in the mirror! Then we did some learning about Goldilocks and the Three Bears while we were thinking about families. We enjoyed exploring filling and emptying containers with oats, made a variety of bears and even tasted some of Baby Bear’s porridge! Yum! Some of us have continued to pretend to make porridge in our home corner for our friends!

As the season changes and we move into Autumn we were very lucky to be able to go and pick some delicious apples from the trees in the playground. We used our cutting skills to cut the apples and then put them in some pastry. We all enjoyed eating the delicious apple strudel that we had made! In our outside area we have been looking at the changes that are happening to our trees – they are dropping lots of beautiful leaves into our playground for us to enjoy.  We have been looking closely at the colours and using them to print, rub, paint and stick. What a wonderful term we have had in nursery with all our new friends!

Its Week 7 - Lets see what's been happening in Nursery..............

This week in nursery we have been continuing our learning about the story 'Peace at Last'. We have been practising our good listening skills and learning to differentiate between the sounds that we hear. We have been listening to environmental sounds outside and musical instruments. We even had to guess what instrument the teacher was playing! We have had so much fun!
