Mrs Shah's Weekly Message W/C 21st September

Dear Parents/carers

As we start week 4 of this term, I am filled with joy and pride at how well the whole school community is working together to ensure we continue to provide the best education for our pupils.

We have had outdoor handwashing facilities fitted this week in our Junior school yard and will be having some fitted in the Infants school yard next week. This will no doubt help us to continue embedding the good and safe practice of regular handwashing.

This week we will also start trialling serving hot dinners for all pupils in the junior school.  An updated menu link has been sent out to all parents.

Over the next two weeks all our pupils will be sitting baseline tests for English and Maths. This will help us ascertain individual pupil gaps and support the teaching staff in planning for catch-up and keep up. As always, we will be sharing with valuable information about your child’s progress so far before the end of this half term and will include key areas of focus/targets for your child. This will guide you as parents/carers on how you support your child with their learning.

Thank you for your continued support.

Mrs Shah's Weekly Message W/C 14th September

Dear Parents/Carers

Last week was our first full week back with our pupils and what a week it has been! It has been delightful seeing how well our pupils and staff have settled back into school life. They have all embraced the new ways of working and have been very mature and diligent in ensuring the safety and well-being of all. I feel very proud of my team, all our pupils and the wider community for working together through a challenging week and making our pupils’ experience of returning to school an enjoyable one.

Whilst we have made some fantastic gains towards the successful re-opening of school, I feel we have a few more things to do. The morning dropping of at school gates seems to work so much better, with parents being punctual and arriving at the correct gate. Thank you all for this. However, we still need to work together on home time/end of day collection. Please, can all parents always arrive at their allocated time and observe social distancing. I would also encourage all parents/carers to wear masks when queuing. This will not only protect you and other parents, but it will also mean that my staff are protected.

I would also like to remind all parents/carers that the school is running a cashless system. This means that we, no longer accept cash in school. All parents need to set up their online payment account with school to pay for dinners, trips, uniform etc. If you need any support with this, then please ring our school office and the team will help you in setting this up.

I would like to remind parents that if you have missed sending a packed lunch with your child first thing in the morning, then we would ask that you arrange for your child to have a school dinner as we are unable to take through late packed lunches. This is to ensure that the integrity of bubbles is maintained.

Collection & Dropping Off Arrangements for Pupils - Starting 7th September

4th September 2020

Dear Parents/carers

The Senior Leadership Team and I have been reviewing our start and end of day arrangements and I wanted to share with you some changes we will be implementing from Monday 7th September.

Firstly, I would like to thank all those parents who have been very co-operative and supportive over the last two days, by observing social distancing when queuing, arriving at the correct school gate and on time and supporting the staff team with the safe arrival and collection of our pupils.

However, many parents have not been following the agreed procedures and this has made our job as a school really challenging. Therefore, the school has looked at how else we can make this process of dropping off and collection of pupils easier and we have decided the following:

  • There will be one time slot for each year group for drop off and collections.
  • We will put even larger and more signage on all gates to support parents.
  • Parents will have to arrive with the time slot allocated and only those parents should be at the front of the queue.
  • Morning drop off- As we can only let one year group in school at a time, the year group lead will stand outside facing the queue allowing only children from that year group through the school gates. When their 15-minute time is up the next Year group lead will come the front and start letting through the next group of children.

Please note that if you miss your time slot then we are asking, for the safety of all, that you go to the back of the queue until we have taken in all pupils. Please do not come near the gate as the staff will not be able to speak with you then.

  • Collection of children at the end of the school day – We can only let one year group out at a time. The year group lead will stand outside facing the queue and they will call out your child’s name to come out. This will be a slightly slower process as we will need to ensure that each pupil is handed over safely to their adult.

Listed below are the School start and end time for all year groups for your reference. This information is also on our website.

I urge all our parents to support us by doing the following:

  • Arrive at school at the designated time
  • Ensure that you are at the correct gate
  • Always observe social distancing
  • Be patient

I am sure that with your help and support we can ensure that all pupils start school on time and are collected safely at the end of the day. Your support with this also means that I can keep my staff safe and well and that no learning time is wasted.

I look forward to having our first full week at school with all our pupils next week.

Wishing you all a restful weekend.

Yours sincerely

Mrs A Maqsood-Shah

Returning to School - Thursday 3rd September

Dear Parents

We know that the end of the school year has looked very different for all our children, and families and children haven't had an opportunity to meet their new teachers yet. We have therefore created a transition/returning to school page, you can view this page by clicking this link https://www.highhazelsacademy.org.uk/transition.

The page includes information videos for every class, and an opportunity to virtually meet your child's new teacher.  Please take time to view the videos, and read the letters with your child before returning in September.

All children will return to school on Thursday 3rd September, and further information will be sent out to all parents regarding all arrangements for returning to school on 1st September.
