09 February 2022 Its the end of Spring 1 term 😊 Let’s see what’s been happening in Y4……………………. The first part of our Spring Term has shown the children building their key skills of independence, resilience, adaptability, confidence and perseverance - the Year 4 team could not be prouder. During our Writing lessons, the children participated in many creative lessons. They became children story tellers, creating their own Stinky Men stories based on the fairy tale ‘The Gingerbread man.’ The children have explored many Arabian legend stories, based on our class book for this term: ‘A Hundred and One Arabian nights,’ writing their final piece by adapting the classic, Aladdin. In Reading, we have looked at many stories from ‘A Hundred and One Arabian nights’ and focused on our skills of inference and sequencing. The children have really enjoyed this topic and it gets them excited for their upcoming History Unit, Early Islamic Civilisation. In maths, children began to develop their knowledge of timetables and division facts, a unit which has been continued outside of school as they have also been practicing their timetables and completing in battles on TTRS between classes. Please encourage your child to log on to Times Tables Rockstars everyday to practice this key skill. Read more
