We have had a fantastic last term in nursery! We started off the term learning about and celebrating the Queen’s Jubilee. The children made flags, party decorations and their own invitations to the Jubilee celebrations! We had a party, and everyone dressed in red, white and blue and made gold crowns to wear! We ate lots of party food and played games to celebrate the Queen’s Jubilee. Then we started our new theme for the term ‘All creatures great and small’ and started to read the story ‘Dear Zoo’. The children enjoyed learning about zoo animals and made their own ‘zig zag books’ with pictures of their favourite animals in. The weather has been lovely with the sun shining so the children have loved learning outside drawing with chalk, popping bubbles, climbing the equipment, and making mud pies in the mud kitchen! In maths we have been sorting objects according to different criteria’s, counting- saying one number for each item in order: 1,2,3,4,5, showing the right number of objects to match the numeral, up to 5, using positional language and comparing numbers! The children have excelled in phonics and have learnt so many new sounds with help of Fred the frog! They also completed their homework every day and brought it back to school to show the teachers. This will really help the children who are moving into FS2 next year! Lots of children have also learnt to write their name which we are so proud to see! During this term we had sports day where the children took part in lots of different races. All the children took part which made the teachers very proud! We also had our 'teddy bear's picnic' where the children brought their own teddy bear and we sat and ate a picnic in the sunshine!
We have had an amazing time in nursery this year exploring, playing, and learning with our friends! Good luck to the children who are moving to FS2 in September, and we can’t wait to continue our learning journey with the children staying in nursery, as well as welcoming some new friends! Have a lovely summer holiday and see some of you in September!
