Our Art vision is to creatively explore ideas through experimentation.
At High Hazels Academy children explore and develop their skills and creativity using a wide range of media. We value the importance of experimentation, exploration and pushing ideas in imaginative ways.
We display around school showing a diverse range of styles, media and cultures. We showcase the children’s learning in their Learning Journey’s which shows their progression of their knowledge and skills gained from the unit of work.
Our curriculum is enriched by inviting artists in to school to work with children and staff. We also organise trips for the children to explore art in galleries and museums.
We are committed to providing all children with learning opportunities to engage in Art and Design. We follow the Art milestones which builds skills and develops their knowledge. This is closely linked to the National Curriculum.
The purpose of Art and Design education is to give pupils the skills, concepts and knowledge necessary for them to express their responses to ideas and experiences in a visual or tactile form. It fires their imagination and is a fundamental means of personal expression.
While it is essentially a practical subject, art should provide opportunities for reflection and, with increasing sensitivity, pupils should acquire the ability to make informed, critical responses of their own work and that of others.
