Urgent Covid-19 Update

Urgent Covid-19 Update

Urgent - Covid-19 Update

Dear Parents/Carers

The Government has this evening announced that, on the advice of its medical and scientific experts, all schools will now begin the term under remote learning. This is in order to help minimise the transmission of the virus even though the risk to young people remains very small.

Therefore, as a result of this, we will be providing all pupils with a full online curriculum and lessons which will be available from  Wednesday 6th January. As you will understand, the announcement of the full Lockdown has only been made this evening and with very little warning, so we are moving very quickly to provide a full timetable but it may take us a day to have everything completely in place. to this end the school will be closed to all pupils on Tuesday 5th January and the day will be an INSET day for all staff.

The children of key workers and those who are deemed vulnerable will be able to continue to come to school from Wednesday 6th of January.

Those pupils who are eligible for Free School Meals will be sent vouchers to cover these for this week and we will let you know as soon as possible about what will be provided in future weeks.

Christmas Party - 16th December

Christmas Party - 16th December

Dear Parents/Carers,

On the afternoon of Wednesday 16th December 2020 FS2-Y6 will be having a Christmas party.

It will be a fun afternoon as the children will be able to watch Cinderella Opera in their classrooms, which is being provided virtually by Sheffield Music Hub.

Due to the current pandemic children will not be able to bring in food from home, however school will buy party food and drink for all the children, and we would ask that parents pay £1 per child via ParentMail.

This is also a non - uniform day for all the children

If your child has any allergies then please ensure their medical records are up to date in the office.

If you have any questions or queries then please come and speak to your child’s class teacher.

We are looking forward to a good afternoon,

Thank you for your continued support

Mrs Shah's Weekly Message W/C 9th November

Mrs Shah's Weekly Message W/C 9th November

Dear Parents/Carers

Our first week back after half term has started with an announcement from the government of a second countrywide lockdown from Thursday 5th November. The main difference for educational institutions in this second lockdown is that all schools will remain open for all pupils. I, therefore, ask that you continue to send your child/ren to school unless s/he has to isolate or has another illness that prevents them from attending school. At High Hazels Academy, we continue to go above and beyond to ensure that our building remains as safe as possible, that our offer of a high of quality educational provision is maintained and that our pupils' and staff's health and well-being remains at the heart of all that we do. We have maintained high levels of cleaning, employed additional daytime cleaning staff, and implemented a whole range of preventative measures. I am proud to say that our staff and pupils have responded positively to many changes. This has been possible due to your support, for which I am grateful.

However, I would once again want to urge all parents to observe social distancing rules and wear a face mask during drop off and collection times for the safety of all. I am also asking for further cooperation in ensuring that if your child or anyone in your household has any Covid-19 symptoms (high temperature, persistent cough, and/or loss of sense of smell/taste) then please DO NOT send your child to school. This also includes if anyone in your household is awaiting test results. Children must not attend school until a negative result is attained or a period of 14 days of isolation has been completed. Your full support with this means that we can continue to maintain the lowest possible risks of transmission and keep our entire school community safe.

This week has also seen the launch of our annual Parents' Survey. You will have been sent an email from no-reply@edurio.com. The survey is run by an independent survey company and you can be in to win a £25 Amazon voucher. We look forward to hearing your views! Please do complete the survey as it is more important now than ever that we get your feedback and look at how else we as a school can continue to support our families.

This week you will receive a letter from the school about our offer of after school club for all pupils. To clarify, these clubs will be run by teachers within their own class bubbles therefore maintaining health and safety arrangements for all. I would encourage you all to support your child to attend their after-school clubs. The clubs constitute a key part of our Education with Character offer that builds pupils' skills and knowledge beyond academia. This is particularly important as it will help with supporting our pupils p
