Year 2 have had a great start to the Summer term where they have really settled back into school, making good progress with their learning.
The teachers are proud of every single child in year 2. They have tried their best. Well done!
Through our topic ‘Hot and Cold Deserts, we have done lots of learning across different subjects. In Geography, we have located hot and cold deserts, and identified common physical and human features.
In English, we have been using the text ‘The Tunnel’; this book is by the author, Antony Browne. We will use this text to create our own narratives.
In Phonics, we have been reviewing all our Set 3 sounds. We have been finding our sounds in words and practising reading our words quickly without sounding them out. We are now working hard to apply our phonics to spelling patterns.
In Maths, we have revised the four operations, we also covered money, time statistics and shape.
In Science, we are learning about the properties of everyday materials. We have been learning new vocabulary to describe the properties of materials, like malleable and absorbent. We conducted an experiment to see which items are absorbent. It was lots of fun!
In DT, we have been looking at ‘Moving Vehicles’. We will be designing and creating moving vehicles.
In computing, we are learning all about internet safety. We are learning how to stay safe online and why it is important to do so.
The Year 2 team have really enjoyed teaching Year 2 this half term. It has been successful start to the summer term, and we are all impressed with the year group’s enthusiasm for learning and determination to do their best.
Well done Year 2.
The Year 2 team.
