Happy Reading!

Y4 had an amazing time in the library today, diving into books and losing ourselves in stories! Nothing beats the joy of reading for pleasure. Whether it was an action-packed adventure or a heartwarming tale, each page brought new excitement.

We encourage everyone to keep exploring new genres and finding those hidden gems that make reading so much fun!

Happy reading, everyone! 😊✨

πŸŒŸπŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸƒ OPAL Playtime Donations Alert! πŸƒπŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸŒŸ

Morning families!

We’re super excited to share that our Opal Play project is a hit with the children during lunch times! πŸŽ‰ To make it even better, we’re reaching out for your help!

This week, we’re on the lookout for any pushchairs, scooters, and even pots and pans that you might have tucked away and no longer use. If you have any of these items, we’d love to give them a new home in our play sessions!

And guess what? We’ve got some fun snapshots of the kids enjoying their lunchtime activities last week! πŸ“Έ

Thank you so much for your ongoing support! You make our community awesome! πŸ’–

πŸ€“πŸ€“Y4 Classification πŸ€“πŸ€“

In Y4, we've been having a blast learning how to classify objects and subjects. It's like being detectives, sorting everything into neat little categories! From toys to animals, we’ve discovered how to spot the differences and similarities.

Our favorite part? Creating fun charts and discovering new things together. It's amazing to see how many objects fit into different subjects. Who knew learning could be so exciting?

🌟 Coffee Morning for a Cause! 🌟

Join us on Wednesday 24th September 9-10am in the Woodlands for a fabulous coffee morning to raise funds for MacMillan Cancer Support! πŸŽ‰

We would love your help! If you’re able to whip up something sweet, cake donations will be gratefully received. Just a little reminder to include all allergy information. 🧁❀️

And don't worry—if there are any cakes left at the end of our morning session, we'll be selling them at the Junior yard after school. So, let’s spread the word and make this a delightful event!

See you there! β˜•οΈπŸ°

πŸŽ‰πŸŒŸ Y4 PSHE πŸŽ‰πŸŒŸ

In our Year 4 PSHE class, we had a fantastic time exploring what makes a good team! πŸ‘«πŸ’ͺ We brainstormed our ideas and ranked them to find out the top traits that help us work together successfully. From communication to support, teamwork is all about lifting each other up! Can't wait to put our ideas into action! πŸ’–πŸ€

Y4 Swimming Sessions

Dear Parent/Carers

I am writing to inform you that children in Year 4 will be starting swimming lessons as part of their PE curriculum on Tuesday, 9th September 2025. Pupils will attend school as normal on Tuesdays and will travel, supervised by school staff, via coach to the Ponds Forge Leisure Centre each week. The swimming sessions will run until Tuesday, 27th January 2026 and will be taught by qualified swimming instructors. The sessions are fully funded by school, and as they are part of the curriculum, all children are expected to participate.

Times are a little bit different this year! Please can Y4 Peridot arrive at school for 8:30 AM, as the coach will pick you up at 8:50 AM. For Y4 Turquoise and Y4 Onyx, you can stick to the regular school arrival time.

For each lesson your child will need to come to school dressed in their swimwear (underneath their school uniform).

They will also need to bring the following:

  • A towel
  • A waterproof bag
  • A change of underwear

Please ensure you follow the guidance below:

  • Your child should not bring or wear any jewelry, including ear piercings. Taping over piercings is not acceptable and will mean your child cannot participate in a swimming session.
  • Long hair must be tied back.
  • The teacher will ensure any medication which has been shared with school is taken with the child’s group. If your child has a medical need such as asthma, this information has been shared with school and an inhaler has been provided.
  • Appropriate swimwear must be worn each week. Please do not send your child in shorts below the knee, heavy outdoor clothing or underwear.
  • If your child is required to wear a long sleeve top and leggings, these should be lightweight materials and worn underneath or on top of swimwear.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact your child’s class teacher.
