Exploring Penguins after reading Lost and Found!

This week in Nursery, we are reading Lost and Found by Oliver Jeffers. The children loved the story of the little boy and the penguin and we decided to learn more about these amazing animals!

We created our very own penguins using different shapes and materials — adding beaks, wings, and feet just like in the story. 🧑

We also explored ice and light to see where penguins might live and talked about what makes them special.

We loved seeing the children’s creativity and curiosity come to life through play and storytelling! πŸ’™πŸ§πŸ“š

🌟 Parent Play, Chat and Learn Workshop! 🌟

Yesterday we welcomed the Sheffield Family Hub into our nursery for a wonderful Play, Chat and Learn workshop πŸ’¬πŸŽ¨πŸ§©

Children and parents explored lots of exciting activities together — from creating colourful artwork and sorting woodland animals, to exploring textures, leaves, and storytelling inspired by We’re Going on a Bear Hunt! πŸ»πŸ‚

It was lovely to see so many shared moments of learning through play. A big thank you to the Family Hub team and to all our families who joined us! πŸ’›

OPAL Playtime Donations

Good morning, families!

We’re excited to share that our children are having a blast during playtime, and the OPAL project is really taking off! This week, we’re on the lookout for any old musical instruments, wellies and kitchen utensils you no longer use. If you've got any spare items lying around, we’d be absolutely thrilled to give them a new life in our play sessions!

Also, don’t forget to check out some fun snapshots of the kids enjoying their lunchtime activities from last week! πŸ“Έ

Thank you so much for your ongoing support! You truly make our community awesome! πŸ’–

Our nursery children have been busy building their fine motor skills through a variety of exciting autumn themed activities this week! From threading and tweezing to cutting and tracing, they’ve been strengthening those little hand muscles πŸ’ͺ🎨

These hands-on experiences help prepare children for early writing, self-care skills, and so much more — all while boosting confidence and independence. 🌟
