Important Information Returning to School - Monday 8th March

Important Information Returning to School - Monday 8th March

Dear Parents/Carers

I am writing to inform you about some key arrangements for our school opening on 8th March 2021. You will be already aware of the government's announcement, that all pupils will be expected to attend school from next Monday 8th March. This, I am sure, is very positive news for our whole school community. Attendance will be required at school and will be monitored as it has been in the past. Unauthorised absence will be treated as such and followed up accordingly.

The most up to date Government guidance means several important changes to how the school runs. Most changes remain as per our wider opening of schools in September.  In particular:

● When pupils are in school, they will remain within their class group bubble. We will be avoiding any non-essential mixing of year groups;

● Arrivals, break times, lunchtimes and end of school will be staggered to minimise the interaction between year groups. Late children will be asked to wait at the main gate on Fisher Lane and a member of staff will come to assist when all year groups are in the building;

● Year groups will be separated within the school wherever possible so that pupils have access to a minimal number of classrooms and use of communal areas is strictly controlled;

● All areas of the school will receive more frequent cleaning and there will be hand sanitiser available throughout the school. We will continue to encourage children to wash their hands regularly and promote ‘catch it, bin it, kill it’ for any sneezes or coughs;

● Sport and Physical Education will predominantly take place outdoors and contact sports will not be played; pupils will be expected to come to school in their P.E kit on the days they are scheduled to have P.E.  Listed below are allocated PE days for each year group

FS2 Garnet - Thursday                                                    Y5 Ametrine – Monday & Tuesday

FS2 Opal – Wednesday                                                 Y5 Alexandrite – Tuesday & Thursday

FS2 Topaz – Wednesday                                                Y5 Quartz – Tuesday & Thursday

Y1 – Wednesday

Dear Parents/Carers

Food action week is taking place between Monday 1st - Sunday 7th March, the week aims to break the cycle of food waste and communicate the message "waste food feeds climate change"

We would like to children to draw their favourite meal that they wouldn't want to go to waste and send the copy or photo of their drawing to lily.cockerill@iplgobal.com by Wednesday 3rd March  with your name, age and don't forget to put High Hazels Academy as the school you attend on your picture.

Many thanks

World Book Day - 4th March 2021

World Book Day - 4th March 2021

On Thursday 4th March we will be celebrating world book day a bit differently, however it will still be a day where children can celebrate their favourite author and books.

To celebrate this day children can dress up as their favourite book character for their live lessons.  We would really like children to make their own costumes and we will be looking for the most imaginative costume.

We would also like parents to join in, and they can do this by sharing a traditional story that they grew up with.

Remote Learning Information From Monday 11th January

Remote Learning Information From Monday 11th January

Dear Parents/Carers

As you may already know we will be offering daily live teaching for all pupils in all year groups starting Monday 11th January. I have been inundated with positive feedback from you and our pupils who are no doubt really looking forward to engaging with their teachers daily. Throughout this week my staff have been contacting all of you to offer their support on how you can guide your child/ren with the online provision. For this, I am thankful to my team.

It is paramount and the expectation of the school, Local Authority and the DfE that every child must engage with their daily learning and we will work with each family to mitigate any barriers you may have.

I am including a link below to a very helpful video which we have created to guide and support you and your child with the logistics of logging onto the online learning. Please do refer to this.
