Y5 Trip to Space Centre

Y5 Trip to Space Centre

HIGH HAZELS PUPILS REACH FOR THE STARS

Pupils from High Hazels Academy in Sheffield had an out of this world experience when they paid a visit to the award winning National Space Centre in Leicester last week.

The visit was in direct support of Year 5’s ‘Out of this World’ topic and saw the budding astronauts explore the centre’s six interactive galleries, with exhibits including space suits, rockets, satellites and meteorites.

The young explorers also visited the centre’s Sir Patrick Moore Planetarium, the largest in the UK, where they learnt all about the night sky, as well as the iconic 42m high semi-transparent Rocket Tower, designed especially to house the centre’s largest artefacts, including the Blue Streak and Thor Able Rockets.

Commented Headteacher Mrs Asma Maqsood-Shah:

“Here at High Hazels Academy we are committed to providing our children with an Education with Character - an education which introduces them to new experiences, helping to broaden their horizons and Year 5’s recent visit to the National Space Centre was a perfect example of that.”

EDITORS’ NOTES

EDUCATION WITH CHARACTER

United Learning schools believe that there is more to an excellent education than solely academic success. They therefore aim to develop character, compassion and service in their pupils. United Learning calls this Education with Character, #EducationwithCharacter.
