Its Week 4 - Lets see what's been happening in Reception..............

We have had an exciting week in FS2 with the arrival of our caterpillars, we have learnt all about the life cycle of a butterfly and discussed the parts of a caterpillar. We learnt some interesting facts about caterpillars and butterflies. Did you know caterpillars have 16 legs? We have been getting creative designing butterflies by exploring symmetry and making our own life cycle zig zag books.  We can’t wait to see them cocoon and emerge as beautiful butterflies. In maths we have been learning to hold a number in our head and count on in order to solve a simple addition equation. We continued our Eid preparations by making cards, creating Medhi patterns and talking about our Eid celebrations. It sounds like the children have had a good time, with their families and friends. We hope all our families have enjoyed their Eid celebrations.

Its Week 4 - Lets see what's been happening in Y3..............

Year 3 have had a wonderful week of learning this week. In Writing, we completed our stories about a child’s journey through Ancient Greece. In Maths, we have started our brand-new topic of fractions: learning about recognising halves and quarters. Further, in History Year 3 have been learning about the different architectural designs that Ancient Greek Temples had and considering if we would have such buildings today. We then designed our own Greek temples for the goddess Athena! Perhaps most exciting of all was the run up to the Eid, filled with excitement and cheer. We would like to wish everyone a special Eid Mubarak from the Year 3 team!!

Its Week 4 - Lets see what's been happening in Nursery..............

This week in nursery we have been getting very excited about celebrating Eid! We have made Eid cards for our families and talked about how we will celebrate. We have continued our learning about 'The Very Hungry Caterpillar' and we had a special snack where we made some fruit kebabs! We spoke about what fruits we liked and used our fine motor skills to put the fruits on the skewers. On Friday when we came back to school we had an exciting delivery- some tiny baby caterpillars for us to look after! We held the pot very carefully as we had a turn at looking - one of them was crawling around the pot! We are so excited to see how they grow and change!

Y6 Crucial Crew Trip

Dear Parent(s),

As part of this term’s work on personal safety, all the Y6 children will be taking part in “Crucial Crew”.

This is an interactive scheme for young people to learn about, and react to, a variety of real life-type situations: home fire safety, arson, bus safety, road safety, mock court trial, internet safety, peer pressure and safety in the wider community.

It is run by South Yorkshire Police and other professional agencies. Our staff will be, of course, accompanying the children at all times.

It takes place at ‘The Lifewise Centre’, Rotherham.  &a

This is sure to be a wonderful day for all and is a fantastic opportunity for your child to learn new skills, challenge themselves and have fun with their friends as they near the end of their journey at High Hazels.

Our Adventure Day will take place on Tuesday 8th June 2021.

In their class bubbles, children will take part in a range of different activities:

  • Archery
  • Climbing
  • Nightline
  • Survival
  • Laser tag
  • Team challenges

This event will take place on our school field and each activity will be run by qualified instructors (from One Adventure) and class teachers will be there to support throughout the day.

Your child will need to wear their PE kit on this day, but the school day will start and finish at the normal time.

The cost of this exciting day is £15 per child.  Please can this be paid via your Parent Mail account.

If you have any questions at all, please do not hesitate to contact your child’s class teacher.

Its Week 3 - Lets see what's been happening in Y4..............

Year 4 are extremely grateful to be having weekly music lessons from Liam, our expert from Sheffield Music Hub. We are currently working on finding the pulse in a song and reading and copying different rhythms. This will help us keep time and play together when we move on to using the instruments. It’s so much fun!
