Y6 Cooking Club

πŸ₯žπŸ₯ž Y6 Cooking Club πŸ₯žπŸ₯ž

We have begun our culinary journey this week by learning how to make the perfect pancakes! We measured out all the ingredients and whisked the batter to perfection. Then we put some mixture into the pan, waited for the all-important bubbles to appear before carefully flipping them over, tossing them and adding yummy toppings. They were all delicious and passed Mrs Mitchell's taste test!

Exciting Author Visit

Today was nothing short of extraordinary as we welcomed the talented author **John Patrick Green** to our school! The atmosphere was buzzing with excitement as he held engaging workshops for our Y2, Y3, Y4, and Y5 students. Each session was a creative adventure where our young learners participated in drawing lessons and learned the art of designing storyboards. It was incredible to see their imaginations come to life!

The children were in awe of John’s storytelling and artistic skills, and it was clear that we have some future artists and authors among us! During the workshops, John took time to answer questions from our curious minds about the life of an author, inspiring them to dream big.

We also had a special treat for parents who joined the fun! They had the opportunity to purchase some of John’s fantastic books, which he graciously signed, making the day even more memorable.

All in all, it was a fantastic day filled with creativity, inspiration, and a whole lot of fun! We can’t wait to see where our budding authors take their talents next!

Y6 Crucial Crew Trip

As part of this term’s work on personal safety, all the Y6 children will be taking part in “Crucial Crew”.

This is an interactive scheme for young people to learn about, and react to, a variety of real life-type situations: Home Fire Safety, Arson, Bus Safety, Road Safety, Child Criminal Exploitation, Mock Court Trial and Knife/Hate Crime.

It is run by South Yorkshire Police and other professional agencies. Our staff will be, of course, always accompanying the children.

It takes place at ‘The Lifewise Centre’, Rotherham.

The child will be attending on: Tuesday, 1st July

We shall leave school after the register, by coach, and return to school by 3:00pm. Your child will also need a packed lunch and water but, as usual, if your child normally has free school meals, they will receive a free packed lunch.

We are asking for a contribution of £9 towards the cost of the coach travel, which is payable via the arbor app or calling in at the school office.  We cannot take children on this trip without your consent.

The visits have been carefully planned. The Police have carried out Risk Assessments and a copy of this will be available in the School Office for anyone to see. All children going out on school visits must have a completed General Consent Form and Emergency Medical Treatment Form which is taken from the Education Department’s Code of Practice Number 14 and is in line with school’s own health and safety guidelines.

Thank you for your continued support.

Many thanks

Year 6 Team
