Free Maths App

Free Maths App

Dear Parents and Carers,

This is a great app to help your child develop their maths skills. It is free to use and helps children practise addition and subtraction. It is aimed at children aged 4 - 7, but could be beneficial to KS2 children too. A few minutes on this app each day will help your child to progress in maths.

If you have any questions, please ask your child's teacher.

Kind regards,

Miss Scrimgeour

Its week 3 😊 Let’s see what’s been happening in Y3…………………….

Its week 3 😊 Let’s see what’s been happening in Y3…………………….

This half term, Year 3 have been learning all about Mountains and Volcanoes in Geography. First, we learnt about the structure of the Earth and labelled the key elements that make up the earth's structure. Then, we learnt all about tectonic plates in the lithosphere and how these can be either continental or oceanic. We can't wait to learn how a mountain is formed next week!

Y4 have been making the most of the clubs on offer this half term. In science club we have been learning about famous engineers and developing our problem solving and team working skills. Last week we were challenged to make a bridge that could support three cartons of beans. Happily, everyone succeeded - just! This week we have tried to create tall structures inspired by the Eiffel Tower. We had so much fun and learnt a lot from the structures that worked well as well as the structures that didn't work well. It's not too late to sign up to a club. There are still spaces available in Monday's computing and karate club and Thursday's sports and science club.

Well done, Humayra for this fantastic story map of our reading text. Creating a story map helps us to pull out the key information of a text and summarise it. Following this, we focused on sequencing events within it.

Its week 3 😊 Let’s see what’s been happening in nursery…………………….

Its week 3 😊 Let’s see what’s been happening in nursery…………………….

This week in nursery we have been reading a new story called ‘We all go travelling by’. We have been very busy making our own vehicles from the story in the creative area using junk modelling. In the maths area we have been building vehicles with 3D shapes and in the writing area we have been drawing pictures from the story. In our outdoor area we have been playing musical instruments loudly and quietly, building train tracks and practising throwing and catching balls. Next week we will continue our learning on different types of transport.

Its week 2 😊 Let’s see what’s been happening in Y3…………………….

Its week 2 😊 Let’s see what’s been happening in Y3…………………….

This week in Year 3, children have been deepening their understanding of Twisted Fairy tales. In Reading, they listened to a Revolting Rhymes poem called Little Red Riding Hood and the Wolf.  Children then worked in small groups to create a dictogloss where they wrote down key words and clues to reconstruct the text. A presenter was then allocated from each team to share their work with the class!

During our art lessons, Y2 are studying George Seurat . This week we learnt about primary and secondary colours. We also learnt how to colour mix using paint.
