In Y2 we have continued our topic on 'Rivers, Oceans and Waves' and looked at the art work of Claude Monet who painted waves. We practiced different paint brush strokes and how different amounts off water affects water colours. We had so much fun!

School was originally due to have an inset day on Friday 14th June, however this was changed and the inset day was moved to April.

In Y4 we looked at why Darnall and Sheffield were integral parts in the advancement of steel production. Did you know our closest mine was in Handsworth? The coal was used for the fires to melt the iron.

They made adverts to lure new business people to bring their business to Sheffield, reminding them of our local coal, access to rivers and technological advances.

In Y2, as part of our 'Rivers, Sea and Oceans' topic, we are exploring different artists and different paintings of waves and the ocean. In todays lesson we made a collage inspired by the artist Katsushika Hokusai. We first drew how we wanted our waves to look and then stuck down different shades of blue and white tissue paper to resemble the water. We had so much fun!
