Its week 7 😊 Let’s see what’s been happening in Y3…………………….

Its week 7 😊 Let’s see what’s been happening in Y3…………………….

This week, Year 3 have been re-telling a set of fictional instructions in which they guided Little Red Riding Hood on her journey to Grandma's house using a story-map. They used imperative verbs and actions to perform each step and then innovated the story by adding expanded noun phrases and prepositions of time. We can't wait to see their writing next week!

This week we finished decorating our rainmakers in D&T! We sourced a variety of tubes and dried foods to make the gentle rain sound and took inspiration from Aboriginal art for the designs. We will evaluate these next week and look at what went well and what we could improve on next time.

Y4 had so much fun in art club this week. We all worked together to create this magnificent, chalk masterpiece. We used masking tape to segment our space and then used chalk to add colour. We are so proud of the results, it's a shame it will soon wash away!

This week in FS2 we have been learning all about owls. Our focus book in Literacy this week is ‘Owl Babies’. We have learned about all the different features of an owl, such as the wings, beak and talons. We have made owls using play dough in the malleable area and built nests for them using sticks. We have fed owls, worms using tweezers to develop our fine motor skills in the funky fingers area and ordered owls by size in the maths area. We have even acted out the story using a variety of props. Our Maths focus this week has been on size, mass and capacity. Next week we look forward to inviting you in class to see all this amazing learning happening. Please follow us on our Early years twitter page to keep up with all the fun we have in FS2.

Y1 Trip to Crucible 21st October

Dear Parents/Carers,

On Thursday 21st October the Year 1 children will be going on a visit to Sheffield Crucible Theatre. This is part of a music project that we have been involved with. Your child will see a performance of the story Izzy Gizmo and be able to join in with the songs we rehearsed. Children will leave school at 11.30am and return before 3pm.

The cost of the visit will be £4.00, this will cover the cost of the coach.

Please can parents make this payment via the arbor parent portal

Children will be provided with a packed lunch from school, and they will eat this at The Crucible.   They will need to come to school in their uniform.

If you have any questions please do not hesitate to ask any of the year 1 team.

Its week 7 😊 Let’s see what’s been happening in Y1…………………….

This week in year 1 we have written our own stories based on a book called Ralph Tells a Story. We found a footprint in our classroom after playtime and we wrote about who we thought had left it. We had some great ideas: Big Foot, Easter Bunny, a giant teacher, The Runaway Pea. This is some of Musa's story.

This week in nursery we have been reading the story ‘We’re going on a bear hunt’. In the maths area we have been counting bears and matching them to the correct numeral. In the literacy area we have been ordering the story and drawing our favourite scene. We made bear headbands on the creative table and pretended to go on a bear hunt in our outdoor area, swishing through the long grass and finding a bear in the cave! We can’t wait for next week where we will continue our learning with the story and joining in with more bear themed learning!
