Its week 4 😊 Let’s see what’s been happening in nursery…………………….

This week in nursery we have started reading the story 'brown bear, brown bear, what do you see?'. The children have enjoyed learning about all the animals from the story! We have also had sports day where the children took part in lots of different races. All the children took part which made the teachers very proud! On Thursday we had our 'teddy bear's picnic'. The children brought their own teddy bear and we sat and ate a picnic in the sunshine! It has been a great week!

Y2 Bridlington Trip - Thursday 21st July

Y2 Bridlington Trip - Thursday 21st July

Dear Parent/Carer

As part of our new topic, ‘Hot and Cold Deserts!’ We are excited to inform you that all the year 2 classes will be going on a school visit to the seaside in Bridlington! We hope to make a memorable day for the children and further their understanding of life at sea and on the coast.

The children will have a full day on the beach making sandcastles, paddling in the sea; picnic lunch and a whole year group sing song! The visit will take place on Thursday, 21st July.

Bridlington is quite a distance from our school so in order to get a full day at the seaside we aim to leave school at 8.30am, so please arrive at school at 8am. We expect to return to school by 4pm. If there are any delays, the office team will contact you by 3.30pm. Please make sure your contact details are correct at the main office.

The cost of the trip is £12 per child. This covers the cost of the coach and an ice cream at the seaside. Please visit the Arbor app/portal to give consent and pay.  Without your contribution it may be necessary to cancel the visit.  We understand that some families may need to pay in instalments to help spread the cost, if so, please speak to your child’s class teacher.

What your child needs to bring

We advise children bring a backpack containing a change of clothes, a sun hat, and a bottle of water with their name on. Children must wear sensible shoes, a raincoat and must apply sun cream (depending on the weather) before they leave home. Please ensure that all clothing is labelled with their name. All children will be provided with a packed lunch from school.

If you have any questions, please either call the school office or speak to your child’s class teacher

Thank you for your continued support

Yours sincerely

Year 2 team.

We have started our new DT unit on block relief printing. Our inspiration has come from Houkasi, where students sketched his iconic Great Waves picture, with a splash of their own artistic flare!

It is now Y4Turquoise's turn to enjoy samba lessons with Sheffield Music Hub. We were introduced to the instruments we would be using and learnt some of the signals Liam uses to keep us playing together. It was so much fun experimenting with different sounds and we loved playing together. At times it was difficult to keep to the correct rhythm but we had lots of fun trying and our first song is sounding amazing.

This week in nursery we have continued reading the story 'Dear Zoo'. The children have been painting pictures of animals that live in a zoo and displaying them around the classroom. The sun has been shining so we have spent a lot of time learning outside drawing with chalk, popping bubbles, climbing the equipment, and making mud pies in the mud kitchen! We have also continued with our phonics learning and learnt new sounds including sound ‘g’ and ‘c’. We are so pleased to see the children bringing their phonics homework back to school for the teachers to see! Next week we will start our new story 'Brown bear, brown bear, what do you see?'
